Welcome back. I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving with friends and family. We have just over 3 weeks before our next break. It’s going to be a busy time! Here’s a look at what we have going on this week:

Math: Problem solving (two-step within 20)

Reading/Language Arts: Key details of informational text

Writing: Informational writing (topic of choice)

Science: Completing Energy and beginning Forces (pushes and pulls)

*We are collecting recycled materials for an upcoming STEM project. We’re looking for cardboard boxes, tissue boxes, paper towel and toilet paper rolls, plastic cartons, etc. If you send in any plastic cartons that have had milk or juice in them, please rinse them out before sending in. Thank you!

*We have ILC on Friday. Remember your books.

*As the weather is starting to cool down, please make sure your child dresses appropriately!

*Tuesday December 6th is our Performing Arts field trip. These permission slips went home at the beginning of the year and have already been returned. We will be going to the Cobb Civic Center to see The Nutcracker ballet. Please have your child wear their maroon Tritt shirt!

Thank you for all the items donated for the food drive. As a class, we donated 46 items. What a great lesson to teach our children. Today we celebrated Veteran's Day by researching, "What is Veteran's Day? Why and how do we celebrate?" and we listened to a Veteran share about his job and service. We even saw and sampled their food they eat while on duty. Ask your child all about it!

Information:
  • Six Flags Reading Log: Your child will bring a reading log and information home on Monday. This is optional. Your child can log their reading on the sheet (in addition to or instead of completing the 200 book log for this time period). If your child would like to participate in this, they should turn their log into me by February 10th. For reading 6 hours and logging their time read, they will receive a free Six Flags Ticket. I've encouraged the students to keep their logs in their daily folder so they are not misplaced.
  • Please encourage your child to bring their ILC books back every Friday or sooner if they finish them.
