What an unexpected break after our holiday break! I'm looking forward to seeing the students tomorrow and jumping into 3rd quarter. Our specials calendar will need to be updated. We do not skkip specials due to snow days. We will have Monday's specials tomorrow (wednesday) and I will provide the students with an updated calendar.
Report cards went home on Friday. Please keep your child's report card, read the comments on the back, sign the signature envelope and return the envelope to me unsealed. What are We Learning in 302? Math: We will compare two 3-digit numbers based on our knowledge of the hundreds, tens, and ones digits. We’ll also use the symbols >, <, and = to compare. Reading/Language Arts: We will be working on making inferences while reading. We make inferences by using clues from the text and our prior knowledge (schema). Learning to make inferences will help us understand what the author wants us to know and in turn will help us become better readers. Writing: We are introducing opinion writing this week. We will look over examples of opinion pieces, model how to write one, and begin the writing process. Social Studies: We’ll continue learning about Jackie Robinson. Segregation, equality, and civil rights are important vocabulary words in our upcoming discussions. Your child brought home a trifold filled with important information about Jackie Robinson. Please help your child review this information as a study guide.
